CSNA'S 15TH Annual Student Day Convention

Online Registration

The CSNA annual convention is scheduled for March 2, 2007.

CSNA announces our 15th Annual Day Convention!!!  This year’s convention will be held on Friday, March 2nd, 2007.  It will be held at the Windsor Marriott located at 28 Day St. in Windsor.  The convention runs from 8am until 2:30pm.  This year’s theme is “The Power of One:  Your Voices Impact the Future – Learning Today to Change Tomorrow.”

The Board of Directors has been extremely busy trying to put together a worthwhile convention.  We have several speakers scheduled including, Margaret Flinter, President of the CNA, Dr. Sirleaf, an emergency care physician from Bridgeport Hospital whose mother is the president of Liberia and Linda Schwartz, Commissioner of Veteran Affairs.  We hope all of these speakers will inspire you to use your voice to promote change within the nursing and medical communities as a whole.
Elections for state officers will also be held that day.  The only qualification you need is to be a member of good standing with the NSNA and the CSNA and you are eligible to run for office.  The positions elected will be:  president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.  Keep in mind you will need to make a short speech if you are running for any of these offices.  This is a great opportunity to get involved in a higher level of your state organization.  If making a speech makes you nervous or you are worried about holding a higher office, sign-ups for unelected board member positions will also take place that day. The board members are the backbone of this organization and this is yet another great opportunity to become involved on the state level.
We have sent out over 150 invitations to various vendors throughout Connecticut and nearby states.  We are expecting no fewer than 50 vendors, many with information regarding future employment, educational supplements and worldwide awareness of some of the political and humanitarian issues facing our profession today.
We are also sponsoring a bone marrow drive at this convention.  All it takes to become part of the bone marrow registry is a DNA cheek swab.  The Bone Marrow Association has graciously agreed to cover all costs for students interested in joining this worldwide registry.  We will be providing blank postcards which will be sent to various military units overseas.  All we ask is that you write a short note to a serviceperson and this can be done at the convention. We are asking all attendees to bring a personal care item that may be donated to various Connecticut shelters, including veteran’s shelters.  While it is important to focus on global issues, we cannot forget those at home as well. Several scholarships will be awarded at the convention this year as well, click here for scholarship form.
Lastly, continental breakfast and buffet lunch will be provided.

As you can see, this will be a packed day for you.  We have worked and are still working hard to bring you new and exciting opportunities as you get ready to join this tremendous profession.  On behalf of the Board of Directors, I look forward to seeing you all at this year’s convention!!

Sincerely,
Melanie R Glenn
            President, CSNA
